Project Brief:

• to create a practical and playful garden for a young family complimenting their newly renovated modern home;
• incorporation of areas for the kids to play cricket and also be able to cycle along the pathways;
• having an outdoor kid entertaining area complete with a hand painted mural;
• consideration of the council’s regulatory requirements for planting and significant tree protection;
• to emphasise the feel of a cottage garden for the 1300 SQM garden area;
• to build in use of sculptural elements and artwork; and
• to incorporate edibles into the planting palette have have a dedicated area.

Project loves:

• heavy use of cottage and perennial planting;
• some feature roses reflecting the children’s names;
• wide range of materials and textures bringing it all together!;
• some hidden pockets within the garden to encourage the children to explore a garden full of character and discovery;
• a child friendly and practical vegetable patch and mini fruit orchard; and
• the massive chicken coop!
