Firepits are perfect all year round. You can get the kids away from their devices, toast marshmallows, and enjoy the beauty of your garden oasis. As with anything fire-related, maintenance is crucial. Here are three tips to ensure everyone’s safety in the firepit and surrounding area.⁠

🔥 Keep it Clean and Safe: Regularly remove ash and debris from the firepit to prevent blockages and ensure proper airflow. Cover the firepit when not in use to protect it from rain and rust. Check for cracks or damage in stone or metal firepits and repair them promptly.⁠

🔥 Create a Safe Perimeter: Remove flammable materials like dry leaves, twigs, or overhanging branches from at least a 10-foot radius around the firepit. Consider adding a fireproof barrier, such as gravel or pavers, to keep sparks contained and reduce fire risk.⁠

For those of you who know Brighton in Melbourne, you’ll know what a stunning area it is and the “vibe” that comes with it. ⁠
⁠
We enjoyed working with Ying, who asked us to inject colour and “vigour” into the existing landscape and provide ongoing plant advice and maintenance. We went against the norm for the plant selection typically selected for gardens in this area and instead turned our client into an avid succulent lover!!! 😁⁠
⁠
Ying started out loving the succulents on both sides of the front pathway, along with the choice of the new pebbles. She slowly spread the introduced plant species, primarily succulents, into the rest of the garden over time. Her house looked as good as new!⁠
