Plants bring texture, colour, and movement to your outdoor space. Take a look at this stunning Boston Ivy. I did a double-take when I first saw it as it looked like a mural. The beautiful choice of using grey as the background makes the Ivy pop, and it was a fantastic decision.⁠
⁠
I also wanted to mention the Virginia Creeper Ivy. It is in the Parthenocissus, or grape family, so it is also deciduous. From a distance, it looks like a Boston Ivy, but its foliage is not as glossy, it has five points instead of three, and it doesn’t stick as tightly to the wall, tending to cascade down loosely.⁠

🌵 Pro tip: Use unique planters, mix textures, or shape hedges into creative forms for an artistic flair that’s all your own. Imagine a garden so stunning it feels like stepping into a painting!⁠

Fun fact: While they might look adorable, gum nuts pack serious power.💪 They hold seeds that grow into majestic eucalyptus trees that we love.⁠

Thinking about bringing a bit of the outdoors inside? Check out my Hawthorn East project for some cool ideas! Large glass doors let you enjoy the courtyard without even stepping outside (perfect for those cold Melbourne winter days 🥶)⁠

One of the big things my clients wanted was a way to deal with the crazy heat in the front and back courtyards that can hit over 42 degrees in the summer. So, we maximised the garden beds to keep the plants thriving, and we picked paving that’s nice and cool on your feet in the back courtyard—super important if you’ve got a furry friend around! 🐶⁠

I love the artwork used in this project, too. The colour grabs your attention when you look through those stunning glass doors. I was so glad we could incorporate the client’s love of art, vibrant colours, and cool patterns into this space.⁠
